Although I enjoy painting other subjects, portraits are the most meaningful. I love the opportunity to study individual faces and to recognize what is unique in each person.
The best results usually come from photos that I have taken myself in daylight. When possible I like to meet the people I will be painting, when this is not possible, it usually helps to have several photos to work from.
Please allow at least 1-3 weeks for individual portraits and 3-6 weeks for those that include two or three people.

Gallery
I begin these faces with photos of real people and emphasize the features or expressions that intrigue me as I paint. Some of these portraits capture a very real sense of the model; others take on a life of their own and become a new character.
